Investec Derby 8-1 second-favourite Bonfire is hot 9-4 market leader with William Hill – the official betting partner with the Epsom Festival - to light up the Dante Stakes at York on Thursday.

Godolphin representative Mandaean features next in the betting at 5-2 ahead of Aidan O’Brien inmate Ernest Hemingway at 4-1, with the Roger Varian-trained Ektihaam (9-2) and Gosden’s Fencing (7-1) featuring thereafter.

William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes explained to Racingbase: “Although he swerved his Chester assignment, Bonfire looks all set to light up the Knavesmire, with punters making him the biggest threat to the hot Derby favourite Camelot”

Betfred Dante Stakes (William Hill bet): 9-4 Bonfire, 5-2 Mandaean, 4-1 Ernest Hemingway, 9-2 Ektihaam, 7-1 Fencing, 33-1 Dream Tune, Ptolemaic (EW ¼ 1,2)
