Frankie goes Wild for Derby28th May 2010
Frankie Dettori had been confirmed as the jockey for Rewilding in the Investec Derby at Epsom next week.
The French recruit was impressive at Goodwood on his first start for Mahmood Al Zarooni and is set to be supplemented for the Classic.
"We have decided that Frankie will be on Rewilding in the Investec Derby with Ahmed (Ajtebi) on Al Zir," said Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford on their website.
Al Zir is no forlorn hope, though, and pleased connections in a spin on Newmarket's Watered Gallop. The imposing Medaglia D'Oro colt finished third to St Nicholas Abbey on his final start at two and ran a sound race when beaten just over six lengths in the 2000 Guineas.
Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said: "He worked well. He worked on the Watered Gallop over seven furlongs and I was happy with him. He worked with Wajir. Frankie (Dettori) rode him and he has come back very well from his last race in the Guineas and he looked in good form."
